Devotion 1 of 2: Josh 19

The inheritance of the tribes of Simeon, Zebulun, Issachar, Asher, Naphtali and Dan, alongside that of Joshua are described in this chapter.
One significant lesson is found in Simeon. They did not receive their own separate land but land included within Judah’s land (v.9). The reason for this is because Simeon and Levi used deceit to take revenge on Shechem and his tribe for violating their sister Dinah in Gen 34. Let’s not deceive but be honest so we can gain our land in Canaan!

Devotion 2 of 2: Josh 20

This chapter is about the 6 Cities of Refuge set up in Israel to provide protection from the avenger of blood to those who caused death by accident (v.9). This is a beautiful parable of the salvation and protection that Jesus has provided through the cross to mankind from Satan and his accusations against our many sins and failures!
Let us study the unbelievable, wonderful salvation Jesus has provided for us against all of Satan’s attacks so we can run to the cross, our NT City of Refuge, and live in joy and peace!
