Devotion 1 of 2: Ex 17
In v.8-16, Israel’s battle against Amalek is recorded. Bible scholars teach that Amalek symbolizes the flesh because they were the first enemy to attack Israel after they crossed the Red Sea, just as the flesh quickly attacks us after we get saved!
But Israel defeated Amalek when Moses lifted his hands in intercession for them (v.8-13)! This shows that praying and surrendering ourselves to God is the way we can defeat our flesh also! Let’s overcome through prayer!

Devotion 2 of 2: Ex 18
In this chapter Moses’ father-in-law, Jethro, sees Moses judging the people all day by himself, and tells him what he’s doing is not good, and he’s going to have a burn-out (v.13-18)! He then gives Moses some strategic advice about how to manage the people, and when Moses follows it, it works (v.19-26)!
In today’s world, business and technology are making huge progress, and many churches are getting valuable advice from even non-Christian experts about how to run their church better. Fleshly wisdom is not good but solid, practical, natural-world advice can be a game changer!
