Devotion 1 of 2: Ex 13
God told Moses to consecrate the firstborn of man and beast to Him because it was His (v.2). The reason the firstborn of Israel was His was because He had to kill the firstborn of Egypt to save Israel (v.15). Actually, God called all of Israel His firstborn (Ex 4:22)! Why? Because He chose Israel out of all the nations to show His glory!
In the same way, God calls His church the Church of the Firstborn in Heb 12:23. One reason is because He gave His firstborn, Jesus, to redeem us! Another reason is because He has chosen us to show His glory!

神はモーセに、人と家畜の初子はご自分のものだから、聖別するように言われました（2節）。イスラエルの初子が神のものだったのは、イスラエルを救うためにエジプトの初子を殺したからです（15節）。実際、神はイスラエル全体を初子と呼びました（出4:22）。なぜかというと、神が御栄光を現すために、すべての国々の中からイスラエルを選ばれたからです！

Devotion 2 of 2: Ex 14
This chapter describes the incredible crossing of the Red Sea by Israel. The situation looked impossible. Pharaoh pursued Israel with his army of horses and chariots and overtook them before the Red Sea (v.9). It looked so hopeless the people shouted they should have stayed in Egypt rather than be slaughtered there (v.12)!
Salvation application: For us to be forgiven for our myriads of sins and be saved from an eternity in hell was even more impossible than Israel being saved from Pharaoh! But Jesus did save us! Unbelievable but true! Let’s thank Him for that!

この章は、イスラエルによる紅海の驚くべき渡河について描いています。状況は絶望的に思えました。パロは騎馬戦車の軍勢を率いてイスラエルを追いかけ、紅海の前で追いつきました（9節）。状況はあまりにも絶望的だったので、人々はそこで虐殺されるよりは、奴隷で苦しんでいたエジプトに留まる方がよかったと叫びました（12節）。
救いの適用：私たちが無数の罪を赦され、永遠の地獄から救われることは、イスラエルがパロから救われることよりもさらに不可能なことでした。しかし、イエスは私たちを救ってくださいました！信じられないかもしれませんが、真実です！イエスにとこしえまで感謝しましょう！
