Devotion 1 of 2: Gen 31
This chapter describes Jacob leaving Laban to return home. In the process, Rachel stole her father’s household idols without telling Jacob (v.19)! Why did Rachel do that? Was she an idol worshiper?
I believe Rachel stole the idols, not to worship them, but because she wanted to stop Laban from worshiping them! She probably saw the lying and deceit of her father and the growing prosperity of Jacob, and thought that Laban’s idolatry was not a blessing but a curse to him. Let’s help people get free from idols and find Christ!

Devotion 2 of 2: Gen 32
This chapter describes Jacob returning to his hometown, preparing to meet Esau, and wrestling with God! After wrestling with God, Jacob’s name was changed to Israel, which means “one who struggles with God” (v.28).
When he left his hometown, Jacob was a supplanter, one who stole by deception. But God dealt with him through being deceived 10 times by Laban, so when Jacob returned, both his name and nature had been changed! Now he didn’t take, but gave—hundreds of livestock—to Esau (v.13-15)! Let’s seek God to be changed!
