Devotion 1 of 2: Gen 33
This chapter further shows how much Jacob’s character had changed. His brother Esau went to greet him (v.1) and offered to accompany him, probably to protect Jacob’s family and livestock (v.12, 15).
But Jacob declined the offer, telling Esau to go ahead because he would have to go slower for his children and flocks (v.13-16). The younger Jacob was a supplanter, grabbing Esau’s heel to try to be born first (25:26). But the mature Jacob kindly adjusted his pace to his children and livestock! Let’s also seek spiritual maturity!

Devotion 2 of 2: Gen 34
This chapter tells the story of Dinah being violated and how her 2 brothers took revenge for her. A Hivite prince Shechem was attracted to Dinah, the daughter of Jacob. He defiled her, then said he wanted her as a wife (v.1-4).
Jacob’s sons answered they needed to be circumcised first, deceiving Shechem and his tribe (v.13-17). When Shechem and his men were circumcised and in pain, Dinah’s true brothers, Simeon and Levi, viciously killed and plundered them (v.25-29). But God punished the 2 brothers for their anger in Gen 49.
However, Levi later turned that curse into a blessing. Let’s learn how to turn curses into blessings!

この章は、ディナが犯され、二人の兄弟が復讐を遂げる物語です。ヒビ人の王子シェケムはヤコブの娘ディナに惹かれ、彼女を辱めた後、妻にしたいと申し出ました（1-4節）。
