Devotion 1 of 2: Luke 2

The poor and rich Jesus. We can see 2 aspects of Jesus at his birth: his poverty and his wealth.
In Luke we see the poor Jesus. He was born in a stable for livestock, wrapped in swaddling cloths and laid in a manger (feeding trough for animals) (v.7)! The people who came to welcome him were poor shepherds (v.8-20). For Mary’s purification after childbirth (v.24), instead of offering the usual lamb as a burnt offering and dove as a sin offering (Lev 12:6), she gave the least expensive offering of 2 doves as a burnt offering and a sin offering (Lev 12:8), indicating their financial status.
In Matthew we see the rich Jesus. Wealthy wise men from the upper class of society traveled all the way from the east to welcome him into the world with valuable gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh (Matt 2:1-11)! The gifts proved helpful as an angel warned Joseph to flee from Herod to Egypt, where they lived for several months or years on the income from the gifts (Matt 2:13-15).
Jesus came to save all people: the rich and the poor, the educated and uneducated, the old and young, the Jew and Gentile! What a wonderful Savior he is! Let’s share him with pride to all the world!

Devotion 2 of 2: Isa 2

This chapter is a powerful endtime prophecy that covers the tribulation and the Millennium.
V.1-4 talk about Israel and the church in the Millennium, when nations will beat their swords into plowshares and war will be no more (v.4). The nations will come to Jerusalem and be taught the ways of the Lord by Israel and the church (v.2-3). These are unbelievers from remote parts of the globe who did not follow AC and were therefore not destroyed at Christ’s 2nd coming (Rev 19:17-21).
V.5-9 speak about money and idolatry, which could refer to both halves of the tribulation (T1 & T2). We know AC will erect an image of himself and force the world to worship it in both T1 & T2.
V.10-21 describe T2, when natural disasters and judgments from God will fall upon AC and his followers, so much so that they will try to hide in caves from the terror of the Lord (v.19)!
Let’s study the endtimes and witness with urgency to many, encouraging them to turn to Christ!
