Devotion 1 of 2: Isa 1
The prophet Isaiah prophesied in Judah during the reigns of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah, about 740-700BC (v.1). Judah was in a state of corruption and sin (v.4), exactly what Joshua warned against in Josh 24!
So Isaiah, like many other prophets, prophesied warnings that judgment was coming because of Israel’s sins (v.20). But he also prophesied forgiveness and restoration if Israel repented and returned to God (v.24-27).
The prophets of the OT are speaking to the endtime church also, calling us to repent of lukewarmness (Rev 3:14-20) and to obey the Lord in order to win the world in the LDR that God wants to send.

Devotion 2 of 2: Luke 1
This chapter relates the births of John the Baptist and Jesus. In v.17, Gabriel declared that John would go forth in the spirit and power of Elijah, ‘to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,’ and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”
Because the LDC is called to be the Elijah Church, we should study about Elijah in 1 Kings 17 – 2 Kings 2, the Elijah prophecy in Mal 4:5-6, John the Baptist in the gospels, Elijah on the Mt. of Transfiguration in Matt 17, Mark 9 and Luke 9 and the 2 witnesses in Rev 11. Lord, give us understanding about your purpose in making the LDC the Elijah Church of the endtime!
