Devotion 2 of 2: Acts 23

(2/2)
This chapter covers the Jews’ accusations against Paul in Jerusalem, the plot to kill him and his transfer from Jerusalem to Caesarea. While they were accusing Paul, he cleverly divided them by saying he was being judged for his belief in the resurrection of the dead (v.6). Immediately the Pharisees and Sadducees began arguing against each other because the Pharisees believed in the resurrection, angels and spirits while the Sadducees didn’t (v.7-8).
So the Pharisees were like the fundamentalists and Sadducees like the liberals of today! Let’s try to understand Christianity and its various factions and, like Paul, work to bring forth God’s will among his people. In Paul’s case, God’s will was to divide the 2 factions, but in the endtime, God’s will will be to bring forth love and unity in the church!
