Devotion 1 of 1: Lev 22
Offerings that are acceptable by God are described in this chapter. Among unacceptable offerings were animals that had a defect or blemish (v.18-20). The reason God rejected those offerings was because he wanted the sacrifices to symbolize Israel’s heart of purity, and not a heart with hidden or evil motives.
This is no doubt the reason that God also ordered the priests to be without defect in chapter 21. God is not against handicapped people, but rather loves them! He just didn’t want a priest with a defect to give the people the impression that sacrifices with a defect would be okay!
Let’s offer worship, tithes, our ministry, and acts of kindness, etc., to people that are “without defect,” or, in other words, "from a pure heart!""
