Devotion 1 of 2: Amos 5
God says in v.21-24 that he despised Israel’s feast days, sacred assemblies, offerings, and songs and music! Why? Because of 2 things: No justice or righteousness in their society (v.24) and idolatry (v.26)! So God said he would send them into captivity (v.27)! This happened when Assyria defeated Israel in 721 BC! This applies to Christians because we believe in salvation and the baptism of the Holy Spirit, which symbolize the Feasts of Passover and Pentecost, and have worship services, give offerings and have music and praise! So everything God despised about Israel can apply to us, too! And we will face AC, who will want to defeat the church! How can we overcome him? By walking in justice and righteousness and never compromising to idolatry, including worship of AC’s image!
