Devotion 1 of 2: Amos 4

Sometimes we can be so dull in sensing God’s will. God punished Israel in many ways, like taking away their bread (v.6), or withholding rain (v.7), or blasting them with blight and mildew (v.9), or sending locusts to devour their vineyards (v.9), or sending plagues, or killing their men and horses (v.10), or overthrowing them like Sodom and Gomorrah (v.11), yet they did not return to the Lord! Let’s develop a sensitive heart to discern when God is speaking to us!

Devotion 2 of 2: John 18

1) Because he thought Jesus was rude toward the high priest
2) No
3) No
4) Jesus was speaking to Annas, who was not the high priest
5) Caiaphas
6) Annas
7) The high priest, Caiaphas, talked to Annas about these questions, then Annas asked them to Jesus.
8) Annas asked Jesus the questions that he had discussed with Caiaphas. Jesus answered. The officer thought Jesus’ answer was rude because he thought Annas was the high priest. But he was wrong, so Jesus’ answer was not rude. So v.19 does not mean the high priest asked Jesus the questions but that Annas asked the questions that he had discussed with the high priest, Caiaphas.
