Devotion 1 of 2: 2 Kings 15
Azariah, or Uzziah, was a great king who did right before God (v.3) and was rewarded with a long reign of 52 years (v.2)! But his life ended tragically because of pride (2 Chron 26:16). He arrogantly entered the temple to burn incense like a priest, but was struck with leprosy (2 Chron 26:19-20)! When revival erupts in the LDC, we, too, will be tempted by pride! Let’s not forget what happened to Uzziah and cry out to God to keep us humble!

Devotion 2 of 2: 2 Kings 16
King Ahaz of Judah, like the wicked king of Israel with the same name, was an evil man who even burned his son as an offering (v.3)! One account of how children were burned says that a metal statue of Molech was heated until it became red hot. Then the child was placed on the outstretched hands of the idol, and drums were beaten to drown out the screams of the child as it was being burned to death! Infant sacrifice by the Jews became one of the reasons that God drove them out of Judah to Babylon as captives! Let’s pray for the anointing of Elijah upon the LDC to restore the hearts of fathers to their children as prophesied in Mal 4:5-6!
