Devotion 1 of 2: 2 Kings 13

Elisha told King Joash of Israel to shoot an arrow, which Elisha called the arrow of the Lord’s deliverance from Syria (v.17). Then he told the king to strike the ground with the arrows, which he did 3 times. But Elisha got angry and said he should have struck 5 or 6 times, then he could have destroyed Syria! But stopping at 3 meant only partial victory, and later Syria would destroy Israel! I want to be determined to strike the ground many times to topple Satan and AC and achieve full victory over the enemy!

Devotion 2 of 2: 2 Kings 14

1) Amaziah was a relatively good king (v.3), but I think he got over-confidant in his own strength because he defeated Edom and Sela (v.7), so he thought he could defeat Israel, too. Another reason that I think Amaziah lost was because there was no reason to fight Israel, but he challenged King Jehoash to war (v.8)! So Amaziah was wrong to cause the war.
2) We should be humble and not over-confidant in our own strength! We should always seek peace with others, not confrontation.
