Devotion 1 of 2: Ezek 45

In v.1-6, we find land set aside for houses for the priests (v.4), land set aside for houses for Levites (v.5), land set aside for the whole house of Israel (v.6) and also land set aside for the prince of Israel (v.7-8). I’m reminded of Jesus’ words in John 14:2-3: In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. Jesus is preparing a place for all of us, not only in heaven, but also on earth during the Millennium! Let’s look forward to the day of Christ’s return!

Devotion 2 of 2: Phil 1

1) It is hard to imagine, but while Paul was in prison, some so-called preachers were preaching the gospel so that they could actually cause him pain (v.17)! The only possibility I can think of is legalistic Jewish preachers who may have thought of Paul as a heretic and therefore didn’t think it wrong to preach loudly near Paul’s prison so that Paul could hear them and be vexed by it! But Paul’s heart for the gospel can be seen in that he rejoiced that the gospel was going out, even if it meant affliction for him!
2) I believe that Paul experienced an NDE (Near Death Experience) when he was stoned in Acts 14:19 but was resurrected when his disciples gathered around him and prayed (Acts 14:20)! Later, he recounted that experience in 2 Cor 12:2-4, saying he went to heaven and heard amazing things! I believe Paul saw heaven’s beauty, possibly encountered the Father and/or Jesus, and received many tremendous revelations that he wrote about in his epistles. So he experienced death and realized life beyond death was so much more wonderful than this present world, and that’s why he could write v.21—24!
