Devotion 1 of 2: Ezek 1
The 4 living creatures (v.5) with 4 faces and 4 wings (v.6) represent the glory of the Lord (v.28)! There have been myriads of interpretations as to what they symbolize. One thing that can be said about the 4 faces (v.10) that the living creatures have is that each represents the highest in their category. For example, man is the highest of all creation; the lion is the king of wild animals; the ox is the strongest of domesticated animals; and the eagle is the highest of the birds. All this shows that the glory of God is far superior to the glory of any of man’s false gods

Devotion 2 of 2: Matt 1
1) Tamar’s (v.3) 2 husbands, who were sons of Judah, were wicked so God killed them! Tamar was in danger of dying without having any children, so she tricked Judah into sleeping with her and gave birth to twins. I believe God saw Tamar as good and Judah and his sons as wicked, so he blessed her and added her son into Jesus’ genealogy. Lesson: We should make producing spiritual children a top priority in our life!
2) Bathsheba (v.6) was Uriah’s wife. She and David committed adultery, and later David even had Uriah killed to cover up his sin! Yet, why was she added to Jesus’ family line? I think it was to show how, when we repent, as David and no doubt Bathsheba did, God’s forgiveness is thorough and complete! He showed that their sin was unacceptable by allowing the son of their affair to die. But he showed his forgiveness by allowing their 2nd son to be included in Jesus’ genealogy.
