Devotion 1 of 2: Eccl 6
In this chapter Solomon expresses a fundamental truth: Without goodness, fulfilling one’s desires through wealth and honor (v.2), or living long (2000 years!), or having many children (v.3, 6), or working hard to feed himself (v.7) are vanity, an evil affliction (v.2), worse than a stillborn child (v.3), and grasping for the wind (v.9).
The reason is because eventually we will die, and a foreigner may consume what we accumulated (v.2). We don’t know what will happen to our possessions after we die (v.12)! Let’s avoid this vanity by living with goodness!
Devotion 2 of 2: John 6
This chapter describes Jesus miraculously feeding 5000 people with only 5 bread and 2 fish (v.9-13)! This story has significant meaning for the LDC because in the endtime those who reject the mark of the beast won’t be able to buy or sell food! So, we will die by starvation unless God supernaturally provides food!
But will we be able to multiply food like Jesus did? In John 14:12, Jesus said if we believe in Him, we’ll do His works! In v.28, the people asked how they could do the works of God! Jesus’ answer: Believe in Him whom He sent! Let’s believe in Jesus and multiply food in the LD!
