Devotion 1 of 2: Eccl 3
V.1-8 in this chapter reveal there is a time for every purpose under heaven. One purpose described in v.3b is: “A time to break down, and a time to build up,” which means after things break down, there’s a time to restore also. Praise God that we’re living in the time of restoration of the church and of Israel! Let’s pray for both to succeed!
V.21 says that the spirits of men go up upon death. I believe whether saved or not, people’s spirits return to God (Eccl 12:7), because the spirit is pure, without sin. But it’s the souls and bodies of the unsaved that go to hell. Let’s learn more about man’s spirit, soul and body!
Devotion 2 of 2: John 3
This chapter is the story of Nicodemus, an older Pharisee, and his encounter with Jesus. We can look at him as a picture of the old church which has to adjust to the new revelations that Jesus is bringing forth.
Jesus uses several parables while introducing Nicodemus to salvation, which was the next step after Judaism. Some examples are: born again (v.3), wind (v.8) and serpent (v.14). Today, too, Jesus is leading the church to full restoration through parables about the endtime! Let’s seek God to receive understanding of His parables!
