Devotion 1 of 2: Prov 1
The book of Proverbs teaches wisdom. I believe wisdom is for at least 2 reasons: For our daily life and for understanding enigmas (God’s plans). V.5-6 says, “A wise man will hear and increase learning, and a man of understanding will attain wise counsel, to understand a proverb and an enigma, the words of the wise and their riddles.”
God speaks in enigmas, riddles, or parables about important subjects like Messiah, the cross, and restoration of Israel and the church. Let’s explore Proverbs to see if we can find wisdom to solve some of God’s enigmas.

箴言は知恵を教える書である。私は、知恵には少なくとも二つの目的があると思う。一つは日常生活のためであり、もう一つは比喩や謎（神のご計画）を理解するためである。5-6節はそのことを言っている、「知恵のある者はこれ（箴言）を聞いて理解を深め、悟りのある者は指導を得る。これは箴言と、比喩と、知恵のあることばと、そのなぞとを理解するためである。」
神は、メシア、十字架、そしてイスラエルと教会の回復のような重要なテーマについて、比喩や謎、またたとえを用いて語る。箴言を学び、神の比喩や謎を解くための知恵を見いだせるか探求してみよう。
Devotion 2 of 2: 2 Cor 1
In this chapter Paul speaks of the trouble he and his team of disciples went through (v.8-11). It was so bad they even despaired of life. But their trust in God who raises the dead delivered them from this threat of death.
While Paul was testifying at Lystra in Acts 14:8-20, he was stoned to death, then miraculously raised from the dead! Because of this, Paul could encourage his team to overcome the threat of death they faced in v.8-11. This is an example of receiving comfort, or encouragement, from God, so that we can give comfort to others (v.3-7).

この章でパウロは、自分と弟子たちの一団が経験した苦しみについて語っている（8-11節）。その苦難はあまりにも激しく、いのちさえも危なくなるほどであった。しかし、死者をよみがえらせる神に拠り頼むことによって、彼らは死の恐れから救い出された。
使徒14:8-20で、パウロがルステラで宣教していたとき、石打ちにされて死んだが、奇跡的によみがえった。この経験があったからこそ、パウロは8-11節で一団が直面した死の脅威を乗り越えるように励ますことができた。これは、私たちが神から受ける慰めと励ましを、他の人たちに分け与えることができる（3-7節）ことの実例である。
