Devotion 1 of 2: Num 5
V.11-31 explain the law of jealousy. We must look at this law with OT eyes, or it will seem unfair. In the OT, women were treated below men. This law of jealousy only dealt with wives suspected of adultery, not vice-versa.
The priest would declare, if guilty, the wife’s belly would swell and thigh would rot. Then she had to say, “Amen, so be it” (v.20-22), and drink bitter water, containing dust (v.17) and scraps of ink and parchment (v.23). Wives who went through this no doubt experienced much fear and anxiety. Thank Jesus for releasing women from this law!

11～31節は、ねたみの律法について説明しています。この律法を旧約の視点から理解しなければ、不公平に思えるでしょう。旧約では、女は男より低く扱われていました。このねたみの律法は、夫ではなく、疑われる妻にのみ適用されました。
祭司は、妻が有罪であれば、腹が膨らみ、ももがやせ衰えると宣告しました。そして妻は「アーメン、アーメン」と言い（20～22節）、ちり（17節）とのろいが書かれた書き物が洗い落とされた苦い水を飲まなければなりませんでした（23節）。このような苦行を経験した妻たちは、恐怖に苛まれたことでしょう。この律法から女性達を解放してくださったイエスに感謝します！

Devotion 2 of 2: Num 6
This chapter explains the law of the Nazarite. A Nazarite could be men or women who separate themselves to the Lord and away from wine, vinegar and any grape products (v.2-4). This time of separation can be limited, and during that time they also make a vow to not cut their hair or go near a dead body (v.5-7).
The only specific Nazarite in the Bible was Samson (Judg 13:7), but he failed in some ways. Samuel and John the Baptist had characteristics of Nazarites and fulfilled their callings. Let’s live separated to the Lord!

この章では、ナジル人の律法について説明します。ナジル人とは、主のために身を聖別し、ぶどう酒、酢、その他のぶどう製品を飲まないと誓う男女のことです（2-4節）。この聖別の期間は限られており、その間、髪を切ったり、死体に近づいたりしないという誓願を立てます（5-7節）。
聖書の中で唯一明確にナジル人として挙げられるのはサムソン（士13:7）ですが、彼はいくつかの点で失敗しました。サムエルと洗礼のヨハネはナジル人の特徴を備え、それぞれの召命を全うした二人です。私たちも聖別の人生を生きましょう！
