Devotion 1 of 3: Lev 11
This chapter deals with which animals are clean and fit to eat and which are not. God wanted Israel to eat clean animals and avoid the unclean because He wanted Israel to be holy, just as He is holy (v.44).
From the beginning God used eating (Do not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil – Gen 2:16-17) to teach man what is right and wrong. But through Christ at the cross, God removed laws of eating as our guide for righteousness. Now, He wants us to look at and follow Jesus to live a righteous life (Col 2:11-23)!

Devotion 2 of 3: Acts 11
In v.1-18, Jewish believers argued with Peter about visiting Gentiles and eating with them in chapter 10. But Peter explained how God told him through 3 visions to go, and when he went and spoke the gospel, the Gentiles believed and also were baptized in the Holy Spirit just as in Acts 2 (v.4-16).
To the Jewish believers, the Gentiles receiving the Holy Spirit (and speaking in tongues) was God’s sign that He had accepted them! Let’s look at the baptism of the Spirit as God’s confirmation sign that salvation has come!

Devotion 3 of 3: Matt 27
Today’s passage describes Judas hanging himself and Jesus on trial before Pilate. When Pilate tried to free Jesus, the crowd cried out to crucify Him (v.15-23), even saying, “His blood be on us and our children” (v.25)!
Their words brought a curse upon the Jews as they were destroyed by the Roman army during their rebellion in 70 AD. They were sold as slaves throughout the Roman Empire and ceased to exist as an entity.
But because those words have bred world-wide anti-Semitism, that scene was cut out of the movie “Passion.”
