The contents of this chapter are summarized in v.4, “How then can man be righteous before God?” The answer is he can’t! This is the 2nd step in the 4-step gospel presentation! What are all the 4 steps of the gospel?
They are: 1) God loves you. 2) But you are separated from God by sin. 3) So, through the cross Jesus opened the way for you to reach God. 4) If you believe and follow Jesus, you can know God and have eternal life.
Let’s share this simple 4 steps of the gospel presentation to many people in our daily life!

Devotion 2 of 2: Matt 21
The stories of the fig tree (v.18-19) and the vinedressers (v.33-45) have the same theme—Israel being cut off as God’s covenant people.
The fig tree symbolized Israel. The fruit was accepting Jesus as Messiah. They did not, so they died spiritually. Likewise, the vinedressers symbolize Israel rejecting God’s prophets, and then Jesus Himself, so they were destroyed as God’s covenant people. The covenant was then offered to Gentiles. Let’s treasure it so we can fulfill it and not be cut off from it!
