Devotion 1 of 2: Gen 43
In chapter 42, Joseph’s 10 brothers went to Egypt to buy grain. Joseph accused them of being spies and to prove their innocence, he demanded they bring their youngest brother Benjamin when they come again (42:20).
In chapter 43, the brothers needed to buy more grain (v.2). This time they prepared to pay double because their money had been returned the 1st time (v.19-22). And they also took Benjamin (v.29). These 2 things proved that they were not spies but spoke the truth. Joseph weeping twice shows his heart of compassion (42:24; 43:30).

42章では、ヨセフの10人の兄弟が穀物を買いにエジプトへ行きました。ヨセフは彼らをスパイだと非難し、彼らの無実を証明するために、再びエジプトに来る際に末の弟ベニヤミンを連れて来るよう要求しました（42:20）。

Devotion 2 of 2: Gen 44
This is one of the most moving chapters in the Bible. The 10 brothers buy grain and begin their journey home, but Joseph had planted his silver cup in Benjamin’s sack (v.2), and when it was discovered, the brothers had to return to Egypt and receive punishment (v.4-13).
When Joseph threatens to make Benjamin his slave (v.17), Judah steps in and offers himself as a substitute to save Benjamin (v.33-34)! Here he is a picture of Christ’s substitutionary death on the cross for mankind!
