Devotion 1 of 2: Nah 2

This chapter shows that God scatters and destroys. V.1a says, “He who scatters has come up before your face.” And v.8a says, “Though Nineveh of old was like a pool of water, now they flee away.” So, the meaning of these prophecies is that God will scatter Nineveh and destroy her for her sins.
This chapter also shows that God gathers and restores. V.2a says, “For the Lord will restore the excellence of Jacob like the excellence of Israel…” God is saying He will gather and restore Israel! This was fulfilled only in southern Judah after they returned to their land in 538 BC from their captivity to Babylon.
This restoration was very important. God needed Judah to be in the land because He had a plan to send His Son to save the world. When God restores, He has a purpose. That’s true for the endtime restoration of Israel and the church, too!

Devotion 2 of 2: Col 3

V.4 says, “When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.” I believe this verse applies to our going to heaven in the rapture. But I would also like to apply it to Christ appearing in glory in the LDR and also our appearing with Him in power as the LDC!
This application is backed up by the Mt. of Transfiguration experience, which was a prophecy of the LDR. Jesus appeared in brilliant light like the sun, and Elijah and Moses, symbolizing the LDC, appeared with Him! This was a picture of the 2 witnesses in Rev 11. Jesus will be working with them in glory spreading the LDR!
When we interpret v.4 this way, the challenges (Ex: Seek things from above, no from earth, etc.) Paul writes about in this chapter become more urgent because if we don’t respond to those challenges, we will not be part of the LDC! We will not be raptured and must face the sufferings of T2, the last half of the tribulation!
