Devotion 1 of 2: Jonah 4

This last chapter of Jonah shows both Jonah’s anger because Nineveh was not destroyed and God’s kindness in forgiving Nineveh! This story shows a contrast of Law and Grace, the OT and NT. Under the Law, it was permissible to kill the enemy (Lev 26:7), but under Grace, Jesus commanded us to love our enemies (Mt 5:44)!
So, God was trying to show Jonah a future in which grace, not law, would rule, but Jonah was not ready to accept it, and that’s why he got angry when God forgave Nineveh. In the same way, God wants to show us the endtime, in which the world will be very different from today. Let’s not reject it, like Jonah, but accept it by faith!
In the endtime, AC will rule the nations, and terrible disasters will destroy earth and humanity. But the church will be fully restored and transformed into the LDC, a glorious, powerful, revival church! And LDC believers will be doing Jesus’ works (John 14:12), leading billions of people to Christ.

Devotion 2 of 2: Heb 7

Jesus became our High Priest after the order of Melchizedek (v.17), not Levi. Melchizedek appeared in the OT only once, in Gen 14:18-20! But Heb 7 provides more amazing details! He was priest of the Most High God; king of Salem (Jerusalem); had no genealogy, or beginning or end; and was made like the Son of God (v.1-3).
In other words, Melchizedek was Jesus, appearing in the OT! But why was the Melchizedek priesthood needed? Why couldn’t Jesus have been a Levitical priest? The reason is because the Levitical priesthood was weak and couldn’t make anything perfect (v.18-19); in other words, could not save mankind!
So, let’s thank God that He provided the Melchizedek Priesthood so we could be saved!
