Devotion 1 of 2: Song 2

There are several interpretations of the Song of Solomon. One is that it’s a love story between Solomon and a Shulamite woman. Another is that it’s a triangle love story among Solomon, the Shulamite and a shepherd whom she loves. I would like to use the latter interpretation and try to learn some lessons about love from this book.
Solomon wants to make the Shulamite one of his wives so he brings her into his chambers in 1:4b. But the problem with Solomon is that he already has many women, as 6:8 says, “There are sixty queens and eighty concubines, and virgins without number.”
So, the Shulamite chooses the shepherd who loves only her instead, as she confesses in 2:16a: “My beloved is mine, and I am his.” So, one lesson in this book is to choose pure, true love rather than riches and divided love.

Devotion 2 of 2: 1 Tim 1

V.15-16 say, “This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. However, for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life.”
Paul said he was a pattern to those who will believe in Christ! There will be many Japanese who believe during the LDR, so how was Paul a pattern to them? One way is that he was a chief sinner! Before converting, he did horrible things, like kill Christians! This fits with Japan, because Japan also killed many Christians in the past!
Another way is that Jesus showed longsuffering toward Paul. In other words, it took a long time before Paul finally stopped rebelling against Jesus and believed in Him! It’s taking Japan a long time, too! But, like Paul, she will believe! Amen!
