Devotion 1 of 2: Eccl 10
V.8 says, “He who digs a pit will fall into it…” What does this mean? I think it means if we judge others, we will also be judged, which is what Matt 7:1 says, ““Judge not, that you be not judged.”
I think it also means if we set a trap for others, we will likely fall into it ourselves. This is what happened to Haman when he made gallows for Mordecai, but he himself was hanged on it, as Esther 7:10 says, “So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai.”
So, we should live lives without digging pits for people to fall into! We shouldn’t criticize, judge, reject, or plot evil against others! Rather, we should live according to Luke 6:31, “And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise.” This is called the Golden Rule! At SI, let’s live according to this rule!

8節には「穴を掘る者はそれに落ち込み…」とあります。これはどういう意味でしょうか？これは、他人を裁くなら、自分も裁かれるという意味だと思います。マタイ7:1には、「さばいてはいけません。さばかれないためです。」とあります。
また、他人に罠を仕掛ければ、私たち自身もその罠に落ちてしまうという意味でもあると思います。これは、ハマンがモルデカイのために柱を作った時に起こったことです。ハマン自身がその柱にかけられてしまいました。エステル記7:10には、「こうしてハマンは、モルデカイのために準備しておいた柱にかけられた。」とあります。
ですから、私たちは人が陥る穴を掘るような生き方をすべきではありません！他人を批判したり、裁いたり、拒絶したり、悪事を企てたりすべきではありません！むしろ、ルカ6:31にある、「自分にしてもらいたいと望むとおり、人にもそのようにしなさい。」という言葉に従って生きるべきなのです。これは黄金律と呼ばれています！SIでは、このルールに従って生きていきましょう！
Devotion 2 of 2: 2 Cor 10
I will paraphrase v.3-5, “We walk in the flesh, but we battle in the spirit. For our weapons are spiritual, mighty in God for pulling down strongholds in our minds. They cast down fleshly reasonings that oppose the Word of God.”
Joyce Meyer suffered years of sexual abuse by her father which Satan used to build strongholds in her mind telling her she was worthless and should die! But she got saved, and through the Word, God pulled down those strongholds and transformed her into a powerful preacher, who brings salvation and healing to thousands!
To enter the LDR, we will have to win the battle for our minds! Israel lost that battle and believed they were grasshoppers before the giants, so they couldn’t enter Canaan! Only Joshua and Caleb saw themselves, not as grasshoppers, but as giant-killers, and could enter the land! Let’s be like Joshua and Caleb!
