Devotion 1 of 2: Ezra 3
Jeshua (also Joshua) and Zerubbabel were the two key leaders who guided the return of the Jews to Judah and restoration of the altar and temple in Jerusalem (v.2, 8). Jeshua served as the High Priest, offering spiritual leadership, and Zerubbabel was the Governor, supplying political leadership.
In Zech 3-4, Zechariah prophesies to Joshua and Zerubbabel, calling them the 2 olive trees beside the lampstand (4:11). For this reason, some Bible teachers believe they are the 2 witnesses of Rev 11:4, who are called two olive trees. But I rather believe that the 2 witnesses are the LDC with the characteristics of Elijah and Moses. Let’s continually seek for a deeper and more accurate understanding of endtime Scriptures.

Devotion 2 of 2: Ezra 4
At 1st, Israel’s enemies offered to help rebuild the Temple. But Zerubbabel and Jeshua led the Jews to wisely decline their offer (v.1-3). After that, the enemy revealed their true color and began troubling and discouraging the Jews to frustrate their work (v.4-5). Satan uses different tactics to cause us to fail, but we must not be deceived!
Endtime application: AC will be very cunning. At 1st, he will encourage all religions to work together for world peace, and as a sign of unity, he may very well ask all people to bow to his image. But when true Christians refuse to do so, he will turn against them and begin persecuting them as “enemies of the state.”

初めに、イスラエルの敵は神殿再建への協力を申し出ました。しかし、ゼルバベルとヨシュアとユダヤ人のかしらたちは賢明にも断りました（1-3節）。その後、敵は本性を現し、ユダヤ人をおどし、気力を失わせ、彼らの働きを打ち壊そうとしました（4-5節）。サタンは私たちを失敗させるために様々な策略を用いますが、騙されてはなりません！
終末への適用：反キは非常に狡猾です。初めに、彼はすべての宗教に世界平和のために協力するよう促し、団結のしるしとして、すべての人々に彼の像にひれ伏すように求める可能性があります。しかし、真のクリスチャンがそうすることを拒否すると、彼は彼らに敵対し、「国家の敵」として迫害を始めるでしょう。
