Devotion 1 of 2: 2 Chron 23
This chapter describes the downfall and execution of Athaliah (v.15), the queen mother who usurped the throne for 6 years by killing all the children of her son, King Ahaziah, after his death (22:10-12). It also describes the crowning of Joash, the rightful king (v.11). Athaliah used wicked and self-promoting ways to claim the throne. By contrast, Joash was made king by the people because it was his right as a royal heir of King Ahaziah.
Lesson: We should not make ourselves kings through our effort but receive our kingship by faith as a promise from God to us (1 Pet 2:9)!

この章は、息子アハズヤ王の死後（22:10-12）、6年間王位を簒奪した太后アタルヤの没落と処刑（15節）について述べています。また、正当な王であるヨアシュの戴冠についても述べています（11節）。アタルヤは邪悪で自己中心的な手段を用いて王位を主張しました。一方、ヨアシュはアハズヤ王の王位継承者として当然の権利として、民衆によって王位に就きました。

Devotion 2 of 2: 2 Chron 24
This chapter tells of the good and bad acts of King Joash. The good was that he repaired the temple by collecting an abundance of contributions from the people (v.4-14). The bad was that after his mentor, the High Priest Jehoida died, Joash listened to bad advice from Judah’s leaders. This mistake led to Joash’s eventual destruction (v. 15-26).
Lesson: Who we listen to for advice is very important! Good, truthful advice will save us; but bad, false advice will destroy us!

2歴24章：自由な分かち合い！
この章は、ヨアシュ王の善行と悪行について語っています。善行は、民から多額の寄付を集めて神殿を修復したことです（4-14節）。悪行は、師であった大祭司ヨホイダの死後、ヨアシュがユダの指導者たちの誤った助言に耳を傾けたことです。この過ちが、ヨアシュの滅亡につながりました（15-26節）。
教訓：誰の助言と情報に耳を傾けるかは非常に重要です！ 助言と情報が善良で真実であれば、私たちは救われますが、誤った偽りは私たちを滅ぼします！
