Devotion 1 of 2: Ezek 40

In Ezek 40-48, Ezekiel describes visions of a future temple, city and nation, in which God’s presence is. This gives much encouragement and hope to the exiled Jews in Babylon that God had not abandoned them, but was with them. I still don’t understand much of these visions, so I will write only brief summaries of these chapters.
Ezekiel was in exile in Babylon but was taken in a vision to a high mountain in Israel (v.2). He was guided by an angel who appeared like bronze (v.3). He saw a temple with a wall around it (v.5) and an eastern gate (v.6) with various rooms (v.6-16).
Ezekiel was also shown the Outer Court area (v.17-19), the Northern Gateway (v.20-23), the Southern Gateway (v.24-27), Gateways of the Inner Court (v.28-37), the place for burnt offerings (v.38-43), and Chambers for the singers and priests (v.44-46). In the end, the dimensions of the Inner Court and Vestibule are recorded (v.47-49).

Devotion 2 of 2: 1 Cor 12

This chapter teaches about the 9 gifts of the Holy Spirit (v.1-11) and unity and diversity in the body of Christ (v.12-31).
Although the gifts are available after we receive the baptism of the Spirit, now they are being used only once in a while. I believe it’s because the church needs to mature more, and when the next revival hits, and the church attains full maturity, all 9 gifts will flourish in the LDC!
One evangelist who had a powerful word of knowledge and healing ministry once said that evangelism without the gifts is like working with only ordinary hammers and saws. But evangelism using the gifts is like working by using power tools! It’s much more powerful! Let’s seek for God’s power tools to work through us!
