Devotion 1 of 2: Ezek 32
In this chapter we see prophecies of judgment against Pharoah, king of Egypt (v.2), but also against Assyria (v.22), Elam (v.24), Meshech and Tubal (v.26), Edom (v.29) and the Sidonians (v.30). They have all fallen by the sword and are together in the Pit (v.18-23). The Pit is described in Luke 16:23-24 as the place of torment.
There are only 2 places to go to after death, heaven or the place of torment. Those in the place of torment will later be resurrected, face judgment before the Great White Throne of God and be cast into the lake of fire (Rev 20:11-15). This is why we want to share the gospel and save as many people as we can! Yes, let’s do it!
Devotion 2 of 2: 1 Cor 4
This chapter covers the problem of the Corinth Church judging or not accepting true, spiritual leadership (v.3). In this case, it was the apostleship of Paul that some didn’t recognize (v.9-13).
Paul describes his apostolic ministry as a father raising his children (v.14-16). This is a timely metaphor as next Sunday is Father’s Day! As Paul taught the Corinthians to honor him (v.18-21), let’s also honor our natural fathers for giving us life, working hard to raise us, and for guiding us through life!
If we can, let’s visit or eat together with or call or send something to our fathers! And let’s tell them, “Thanks for being a great Dad to me!”
