Devotion 1 of 2: Ezek 24

This chapter is another prophecy about Judah’s coming destruction, using 2 parables. The 1st parable is that of cooking meat in a pot over fire (v.1-14). The pot (v.3) symbolizes Jerusalem; the meat (v.4), the Jews; and the fire (v.5), the siege and destruction of the city. Judah was destroyed by God’s fury at her sins (v.9-14).
The 2nd parable was the dying of the desire of Ezekiel’s eyes, his wife (v.15-27)! Ezekiel was told by God not to mourn or shed tears (v.16). His wife symbolized the Temple in Jerusalem, which was the desire of the eyes of the Jews (v.21). And, like Ezekiel, they couldn’t weep at its destruction but only pine away in their sin (v.23).
The price Ezekiel paid in losing his wife was the price we may have to pay in following Christ. Matt 10:37 says we must love Jesus more than our family. In the endtime, AC may kill our spouse if we don’t worship his image. What will we do?

Devotion 2 of 2: Matt 24

This chapter is the most detailed summary of endtime events in the Bible. As endtime believers, we should study this Scripture thoroughly. Let’s just look at Jesus’ teaching about the faithful and evil servants in v.45-51.
The faithful servant gave food to the master’s household in due season (v.45). I believe this means he gave the right food in the right season. He was blessed and made ruler over all his master’s goods (v.46-47).
The wicked servant didn’t know when his master would come, so he beat his fellow servants, and ate and drank with the drunkards (v.48-49). The master came when this servant wasn’t looking and appointed him his portion with the hypocrites (v.50-51)! I believe this servant was saved but wasn’t raptured and had to go through the great tribulation to become more refined and mature in faith!
