Devotion 1 of 2: Ezek 1
Ezekiel was a captive in Babylon, where he saw amazing visions from God (v.1). The Jews were downcast in exile and felt abandoned by God, so the visions were given to encourage them that God was all-powerful, and He was with them.
The central object in Ezekiel’s vision in chapter 1 was 4 living creatures with wings and faces of a lion, ox, man and eagle (v.5-10), showing 4 aspects of God. They moved everywhere swiftly on wheels (v.15-21), symbolizing God’s omnipresence.
There were 3 main waves of the Jews taken captive to Babylon: 605 BC (Daniel and his 3 friends taken), 597 BC (Ezekiel taken) and 587 BC (Jerusalem and the temple destroyed, most remaining Jews taken).
Many of the symbols of Ezekiel’s visions are not clear to me, so I may not be able to point out lessons.

エゼキエルはバビロンで捕囚され、そこで神からの驚くべき幻を見ました（1節）。捕囚の地で落ち込み、神に見捨てられたと感じていたユダヤ人にとって、これらの幻は神が全能であり、共にいることを彼らに伝えるためのものでした。

バビロンに捕囚されたユダヤ人は、主に3つの波に分けられました。紀元前605年（ダニエルと3人の友人が連れ去られた）、紀元前597年（エゼキエルが連れ去られた）、そして紀元前587年（エルサレムと神殿が破壊され、残っていたユダヤ人のほとんどが連れ去られた）。
エゼキエルに書いてある幻の象徴の多くは私にはよく分からないので、教訓を指摘することはできないかもしれません。
Devotion 2 of 2: Matt 1
Usually, only men are listed in Bible genealogies, but in Jesus’s case in v.1-17, we find 4 women! So, normally this should be great for women, but in reality, all 4 had huge negatives in their lives! So, does Jesus’ genealogy really elevate women or have the opposite effect?
Upon closer inspection, I believe Jesus’ genealogy does elevate women. Let’s look at just 1 of the 4 women.
Tamar tricked her father-in-law Judah to sleep with her and birthed twins, Perez and Zerah (v.3). But what motivated her was her strong desire to have children after her 2 husbands died! She realized the only way to do it was to have children through Judah, so that’s why she took the bold step of tricking Judah to sleep with her.
So, Tamar can be an example to us of having a strong desire to birth spiritual children, no matter what! Let’s have her kind of motivation to birth souls in the kingdom of God!

通常、聖書の系図には男性しか記されていませんが、イエスの場合、1-17節には4人の女性が出てきます。これは通常、女性にとって素晴らしいことのはずですが、実際には4人全員が大きなマイナスを抱えていました。では、イエスの系図は本当に女性を高めるのでしょうか、それとも逆の効果をもたらすのでしょうか？
よく調べてみると、イエスの系図は女性を高めると私は信じています。4人の女性のうちの1人だけを見てみましょう。
タマルは義父のユダを騙して自分と寝、双子のペレツとゼラを産みました（3節）。しかし、彼女を突き動かしたのは、2人の夫を亡くした後、子供を持ちたいという強い願望でした。彼女は、ユダを通して子供を持つ以外に方法がないと悟り、ユダを騙して自分と寝るという大胆な行動に出ました。
ですから、タマルは私たちにとって、どうしても霊的な子供を産みたいという強い願望を持つ模範となることができるでしょう。彼女のような動機に倣い、神の国で魂を生みましょう。
