Devotion 1 of 3: Jer 52

This chapter describes the fall of Jerusalem after 1.5 years of Babylon’s siege (v.4-5). Because no food could enter the city, a famine occurred, and many people died from starvation (v.6). Jer 19:9 records that the Jews ate their own children during the siege.
Jer 19:9 And I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters, and everyone shall eat the flesh of his friend in the siege and in the desperation with which their enemies and those who seek their lives shall drive them to despair.
Endtime application: These Jews represent Christians who didn’t prepare to face AC because they believed the pretrib rapture teaching. If they compromise and worship AC, they will suffer severe punishment (Rev 14:9-11). We need to prepare even our younger children to resist AC, even if it means martyrdom (Rev 12:11).

Devotion 2 of 3: 2 Pet 3

In v.10-13, Peter prophesies about a time when the heavens will pass away and the earth will be burnt up. He describes this time as the day of the Lord coming as a thief in the night (v.10) and the day of God (v.12). After this, he declares a new heaven and earth will appear in which righteousness dwells.
I believe Peter is describing Rev 20:7-10, in which Satan is released from 1000 years of prison and attacks Jerusalem, where Jesus is reigning from during the Millennium. But God will devour Satan with fire from heaven.
After casting Satan into the lake of fire (Rev 20:10), God will create a new heaven and earth (Rev 21:1), and eternity will begin! So, day of the Lord, thief in the night, and day of God can represent: Christ’s rapture coming, His coming to the Mt. of Olives, God’s final battle with Satan, etc.
Let’s continue to study the endtime, so we can understand it more fully!

Devotion 3 of 3: John 20

I want to focus on v.19-23, when Jesus first showed His resurrected body to the disciples. V.19 says it was the first day of the week, so I want to see this first meeting as a picture of what Jesus wants our church worship services to be like.
*Jesus stood in the midst (v.19). In our worship services, Jesus wants to be in our midst to meet our needs!
*Peace be with you (v.19). Jesus wants to impart peace to all who are going through the battles and stress of life!
*Showed His hands and side (v.20). He wants worship to be a time in which believers genuinely encounter Him!
*As the Father has sent Me, I also send you (v.21). He wants to send us out into the world from the service!
*Receive the Holy Spirit (v.22). To do His work in the world, He wants to fill us with the Spirit during worship!
*If you forgive (v.23). He wants us to walk in forgiveness and unity and spread healing in a world that’s hurting!
