Devotion 1 of 3: Jer 45
It seems like Baruch was Jeremiah’s scribe (v.1). He was in emotional need as he had gone through much grief and sorrow because of Judah’s destruction (v.3). Then God revealed to him that He was the One who had destroyed Judah!
Furthermore, God told Baruch not to seek great things for himself because He was bringing adversity on all flesh. But He did promise to give Baruch life! (v.5)
How does this chapter apply to the endtime? Baruch is a picture of Christians. In the LD, God will allow AC to persecute the church, so, like Baruch, we will experience hardships. AC will persecute us, and we won’t be able to buy food or pay rent unless we take AC’s mark!
So, instead of seeking a luxurious lifestyle, we should prepare ourselves to overcome AC and to bring revival to Japan!
Devotion 2 of 3: 1 Pet 1
I would like to apply some words in v.3-12 to the LD because there are some wonderful lessons here.
*“Living hope” (v.3) is eternal life, but in LD, it is also the LDR! The LDR is our purpose and goal!
*“An inheritance incorruptible and undefiled” (v.4) is heaven, but in the LD, it is also our Promised Land of revival!
*“The power of God…revealed in the last time” (v.5) is salvation, but in LD, it’s also God’s power working thru LDC!
*“Grieved by various trials” (v.6) can also be the persecutions from AC the church will go through.
*“Genuineness of your faith, more precious than gold tested by fire” (v.7) can also be the faith of LDC martyrs.
*“Prophets prophesied grace would come and glories would follow” (v.10-11) is salvation, but in LD, it’s also LDR!
*“Not to themselves, but to us they were ministering” (v.12) is gospel, but in LD, can also be restoration teachings!
Devotion 3 of 3: John 13
In this chapter, Jesus kept the Passover, or the Last Super, with His disciples (v.1-2). While eating, Jesus quoted Ps 41:9 “Even my own familiar friend in whom I trusted, who ate my bread, has lifted up his heel against me” (v.18) and declared one of the disciples would betray Him (v.21). Of course, He was referring to Judas.
Last week Wed, we read in Jer 41:1-3 about Ishmael killing Gedaliah while they were eating together! We learned that it was a despicable act because eating together was a sign of friendship and establishing a covenantal relationship. So what Judas did was a terrible sin!
Joshua made a covenant with the Gibeonites by eating with them (Josh 9:14-15). Later, when Joshua found out they had deceived him, he was angry but didn’t dare attack the Gibeonites because he had made a covenant with them! When we take Communion, we are confirming covenantal relationships with our brothers and sisters! Let’s do our utmost to keep that covenant of love!
