Devotion 1 of 2: Jer 11
In this chapter, God reveals the cause of the calamity that will come upon Judah through Babylon (v.11). It is because they have broken the covenant they made with God after being delivered from Egypt by going after other gods (v.7-10). So, God told Jeremiah not to pray for them anymore (v.14)!
One interesting verse is v.16a, “The Lord called your name, Green Olive Tree, Lovely and of Good Fruit.” This verse is interesting because it shows that the olive tree is a symbol of Israel. In Rom 11, Paul describes Israel as an olive tree that is broken off and Gentiles as a wild olive tree that is grafted in, but that in the end, Israel will be grafted back into their own olive tree (Rom 11:16-24).
After the Jews rejected Christ, they were cut off as the covenant people of God, and salvation went to the Gentiles. But in the last days, God is restoring Israel in 3 major steps, and the final step is for them to believe that their Messiah is Jesus. When they do that, they’ll be saved and grafted back into the olive tree!

Devotion 2 of 2: Acts 11
We see the early church being rapidly transformed from a church centered in Jews, Judaism, the Law, and circumcision to one centered more on Gentiles, on Christian thinking, on freedom from the Law and on grace. Here are some of the big events of change leading to this chapter.
In chapter 8, Samaria and the Ethiopian eunuch receive the gospel; in 9, Paul is converted; in 10, Peter leads Gentiles to Christ; and in 11, the Antioch Church arises. This church eventually replaces Jerusalem as the center of mission activities. And Paul gradually replaces Peter as the spiritual leader of the Christian Church.
I believe in the endtime, God will move important activities, like world missions and world revival, from the established churches to revival churches. Let’s seek to be a revival church making a difference in Japan!
