Devotion 1 of 2: 1 Sam 3
1 Samuel is an amazing restoration book! Let’s learn valuable restoration truths through this book.
This chapter describes Eli as an old priest with priestly sons who commit many sins. We also see Samuel as the new priest who brings the presence of God back to Israel.
Application: Eli represents the old church, the Roman Catholic Church with some priests who commit acts of sin. Of course, not all Catholic priests are bad; some are sincerely serving God as best as they can.
Samuel represents revivals that God has brought forth in the Protestant era to restore truths and bring the church step by step closer to the glorious church He has called them to.
Let’s study Samuel earnestly to understand God’s plan of restoration for His people!

1サム3章: 自由な分かち合い!
1 サムエルは素晴らしい回復の書簡です! この書簡を通して、価値ある回復の真理を学びましょう。
この章では、エリは年老いた祭司として描かれていて、多くの罪を犯す祭司の息子たちを持っていました。また、サムエルは新しい、若い祭司として登場して、イスラエルに神の臨在を取り戻すリバイバルの働きをします。
応用: エリは古い教会、ローマカトリック教会を現わしています。そして、その司祭の一部はひどい罪を犯します。もちろん、祭司全員が悪いわけではありません。誠実に神に最善を尽くして仕えている祭司もいます。
サムエルは、神がプロテスタント時代に真理を回復し、教会を神が召された栄光の教会に一歩ずつ近づけるためにもたらしたリバイバルを表しています。

Devotion 2 of 2: 1 Sam 4
This chapter describes how Israel lost the Ark of the Covenant. Israel went to war against the Philistines (v.1). Eli’s 2 sons take the Ark of the Covenant to the battlefield with the hope that this will secure the victory (v.3-4), but Israel loses instead (v.10)! And, worst of all, the Ark of the Covenant is captured, and Eli’s 2 sons are killed (v.11)!
Eli also dies when he hears the news of the Ark being captured (v.18). Eli’s daughter-in-law hears the tragic news and gives birth to a son but dies. As she dies, she names the baby, “Ichabod,” which means “The glory has departed (v.19-21)!”
Application: The Ark being captured and the glory departing are symbolic of the old church losing God’s presence and glory. Eli and his sons and daughter-in-law dying symbolizes the spiritual death that comes into churches that become man-centered and not Christ-centered!
Let’s pray for churches that have lost God’s presence to be revived by the Holy Spirit and become aware of restoration teaching so they can receive God’s endtime vision for purpose and revival!

この章では、イスラエルが契約の箱を失った経緯を説明しています。イスラエルはペリシテ人と戦争をしました (1節)。エリの 2 人の息子は、これで勝利が確実になると期待して契約の箱を戦場に持っていきました (3-4 節)。しかし、イスラエルは負けました (10 節)。そして、最悪なことに、契約の箱は奪われ、エリの 2 人の息子は殺されてしまいました (11 節)。
エリも、箱が奪われたという知らせを聞いて席から落ちて死にました (18 節)。エリの義理の娘は、この悲劇的な知らせを聞いて男の子を出産しましたが、亡くなりました。彼女は死ぬときに、その赤ちゃんに「イカボド」と名付けました。これは「栄光が去った (19-21 節)」という意味です。
