Devotion 1 of 1: Ps 81
Through the nation of Israel, this psalm shows the different results we receive when we listen and do not listen to God. When Israel didn’t listen, God gave them over to their own stubborn heart (v.11-12). They ended up not entering Canaan and wandering for 40 years and dying in the wilderness.
When Israel did listen, they entered Canaan, their enemies were subdued by God, and they could eat the finest wheat and honey of the Promised Land (v.13-16)!
Let’s apply this to us! Let’s listen to God and enter the Promised Land of revival for Japan!
1 JN 1: Free sharing!
As one of Jesus’ 12 disciples, John had an experience that no other human being had. In v.1, he describes that experience as hearing, seeing, and handling, or touching, the Word of Life. What a tremendous experience it must have been! John called Jesus the Word of Life and further described Him as that Eternal Life which was with the Father and was manifested to us (v.2).
Can you imagine hearing, seeing and touching a human being who is the Word of Life, or that Eternal Life? He looks like a human, but He has an aura around Him that is from heaven!
And when He speaks, you can’t believe your ears because it’s awesome, full of wisdom, love, authority and revelation that you never thought of before! How can He talk like that? It’s because He’s the Word of Life, that Eternal Life!
And He came from heaven, where He was with Father God! That’s why He can talk of amazing truths and revelations that we mortal human beings had never heard of before!
Wouldn’t we want to have an experience like what John had? I think it might be possible through daily devotions—reading the Bible and fellowshipping with Jesus! Lord, lead us into a marvelous fellowship with You, like what John had!
