Devotion 1 of 1: Ps 80
This psalm of Asaph is a call to God to restore Israel. This cry is repeated 3X (v.3, 7, 19), showing it is an important point for us to recognize and understand! God’s endtime plan is centered around restoring Israel to relationship with Him again and restoring the church to its glorious state that it had in the 1st century.
God declares this 2-fold endtime restoration plan many times in the Scriptures. It is essential for we as endtime believers to study this subject and cooperate with God for its fulfillment! Let’s pray for the restoration of Israel and the church to come to pass in the endtime!
2 PET 3: Free sharing!
The day of the Lord, when Jesus returns to the Mt. of Olives to judge mankind, is described as coming like a thief in the night (v.10). The image we have been taught about the thief in the night coming of Jesus is that it means no one will see or notice it. It will be quick and silent. The world will be shocked when millions of people suddenly disappear without a trace!
But v.10-12 say that the heavens will pass away with a great noise, elements will melt with fervent heat, the earth and the works in it will be burned up, all things including the heavens will be dissolved, and the elements will be set on fire and melt with fervent heat! This sounds like a nuclear war, or a powerful judgment from God upon mankind for her many sins.
So if Jesus comes twice, once to rapture His people and the next time to judge mankind, and the term “like a thief in the night” applies to both comings, the term couldn’t mean, quick, silent and unnoticed. Instead, it only means SUDDEN and UNEXPECTED, like a thief in the night.
Let’s remember that as we continue to seek God concerning the truth about Jesus’ coming!
