Devotion 1 of 1: Ps 70

During his lifetime, David was a shepherd for his father, a musician and soldier for, and then a fugitive from, King Saul, and lastly, he became the king of Israel. He received many blessings from God, climaxed by ascending to the highest position in his nation, but, as seen in this psalm, he also received many trials and attacks on his life (v.2).
That’s why David’s prayers, as well as his psalms, were filled with desperate cries to God for help, like in v.1: “Make haste, O God, to deliver me! Make haste to help me, O Lord!”
This should be a lesson for we who seek for God’s blessings and revival for Japan. Even when the Lord answers, and we see thousands getting saved and added to the church in a great revival, our enemy will still attack us and cause us terrible hardships! We will still need to cry out to God to deliver us from danger!
Let us realize that our only resting place will be heaven! In the midst of the LDR, let’s never let down our guard against AC!

TITUS 1: Free sharing!
Paul made 4 missionary journeys, recorded in Acts 13-28, but he had never ministered in Crete. His last journey was going to Rome as a prisoner but also as a missionary. Apparently, he was later released and made one more missionary journey, this time to Crete with Titus. We know this because of v.5, which says he left Titus in Crete and directed him to continue the ministry and appoint elders (pastors) in every city (v.5).
Paul instructed Titus on what kind of qualifications elders should have in v.5-9. One reason for the need of trustworthy elders (pastors) was to protect the churches from teachers of the law who were deceptive and lacked good character (v.10-16). One of their prophets said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons” (v.12). I believe this is a description, not of the Cretan people, but of the deceptive teachers themselves!
Let’s pray for the elders (pastors) of the church in Japan to be led by the Spirit to protect the flock from deceptive teachers of false doctrines.
