Devotion 1 of 2: Isa 22

In this chapter, we see a prophecy about Jerusalem’s future defeat to Babylon (586BC). Toward the end of the chapter, we find 2 people contrasted, Shebna (v.15) and Eliakim (v.20). Both were high officials with much responsibility and authority, but Shebna was self-serving, preparing for himself a grand sepulcher (v.16), while Eliakim worked faithfully, so God called him, “My servant” (v.20).
God allowed Shebna to be taken captive, where he died, so he never used the sepulcher he built for himself (v.17-18). By contrast, the famous key of David prophecy is spoken about Eliakim (v.22), making him a picture of Jesus, who has the key of David in Rev 3:7!
The lesson is let’s not be like Shebna but like Eliakim! Let’s have the key of David, which I believe is the sacrifice of praise, so that, even in difficult circumstances, we can unlock the door into God’s presence by simply worshiping him!

Devotion 2 of 2: Luke 22

I just watched a video on YouTube of a Christian witnessing to Muslims in the USA. One attack that Muslims always use is that Jesus never said he was the Son of God, so Christians misinterpret who Jesus is. They say that John and Paul’s writings (which clearly state that Jesus was the Son of God) are corrupted and are not reliable as God’s Word.
I think one of the best Scriptures to counter their argument is v.70-71. At Jesus’ trial, the scribes ask him, “Are you then the Son of God?” And Jesus answers, “You rightly say that I am.” They get angry, saying, “What further testimony do we need? For we have heard it ourselves from his own mouth.” So they crucified Jesus because he claimed to be the Son of God!
Let’s study how to talk to Muslims so that if we meet a Muslim who’s hungry for the truth about Jesus, we can answer their questions and lead them to salvation!
