Devotion 1 of 2: Ps 49
This psalm reveals much about the death of the foolish, such as: when they die, their wealth is left for others (v.10), they believe their houses will last forever but they won’t (v.11), they’re like beasts that perish (v.12b), their beauty is consumed in the grave (v.14), they cannot take anything with them (v.17) their glory will not descend after them (v.17b), and they shall never see light (v.19).
Concerning the death of the wise, v. 14 says they will have dominion in the resurrection. Let’s thank God for salvation that provides eternal life after death! And let’s reach out to AMAP (As Many As Possible) to share Jesus so they, too, can face death as a wise person, and not a foolish one!

Devotion 2 of 2: 1 Cor 5
In this chapter Paul deals with the problem of an immoral person in the Corinth Church (v.1). Paul ordered the church to expel the person from the church and deliver him to Satan (v.4-5). In other words, allow the devil to attack him in the flesh, perhaps through disease, in order that he would regret his actions, repent of his sin, and return to the church.
Instead of doing this, the church accepted him and were actually glorying in their action (v.6)! Why? Because they thought they were showing love and tolerance! But Paul rebuked them by saying that a little leaven leavens the whole lump—if they continued that practice, soon immorality would spread throughout the church!
Let’s follow Paul’s instructions and keep immorality out of the church!
