Devotion 1 of 2: Deut 26
V.12-15 speak about the tithe that Israel would give to the Lord from their income after entering the Promised Land. The tithe was used to support:1) Levites, 2) strangers, 3) the fatherless and 4) widows. In application to us, they would be:1) pastors and staff, 2) evangelism and missions to unbelievers, 3-4) people with needs, like orphans and widows.
If Israel was faithful in their tithing, they could expect God to bless them abundantly in the land! When we are faithful to tithe our income, God will do amazing things in blessing us, too!

Devotion 2 of 2: Rom 10
V.4 says, “For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.” What does this mean? I believe it means that if we live by our works (by the law), we will always fail because we sin for the sin nature is in us, and we will always condemn ourselves!
But v.4 says that if we believe in Jesus and what he did for us on the cross (became our substitute and took the punishment of our sins for us!), the law ends for us! In other words, we don’t have to live by our works, or whether we sin or not, because if we do sin, we don’t condemn ourselves, but just run to Jesus and confess our sin and he will forgive us, and we can walk in righteousness and victory again!
Of course, this only applies to those who are sincere in their hearts and want to obey God. If we willfully sin and turn our backs on God, then we will suffer the consequences of our bad behavior.
So let’s have a sincere heart before the Lord, and let’s not live by the law or by our works, but by the cross of Christ, the key to victory in the Christian life!
