Devotion 1 of 2: Ps 31
“Let the lying lips be put to silence, which speak insolent things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous” (v.18).
This verse spoke to me out of this psalm because it applies to the trial of a political leader in the U.S. that just reached a conclusion today. During the 5-week trial, the leader said many lies and insolent, contemptuous things against the judge, jury, prosecutor, Department of Justice, his political opponents, the Democratic Party, etc. But the jury found him guilty of all 34 counts that he was accused of.
Sadly, his lying has continued even after he was pronounced guilty, showing he has not learned his lesson. But we should learn that lying and speaking proudly against others are never good.

Devotion 2 of 2: Ps 32
I want to point out v.8-9, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. Do not be like the horse or like the mule, which have no understanding...”
God says he will guide us through his eye! This means we must keep our eyes on him, not our problems or our enemies, in order to be guided by him! And if we don’t do that, we will be like a horse or mule that don’t understand the direction their master wants them to go.
A good illustration of this is Peter walking on the water in a storm. When he kept his eyes on Jesus, he could walk on water! But when he looked at the wind and waves, he began to sink!
