Devotion 1 of 2: Num 35

NUM 35: Answers!
1) To protect people who killed someone accidentally from the avenger of blood (v.15, 24-25).
2) We are like the manslayer and have done many wrongful deeds. Satan is like the avenger of blood and comes after us to accuse, attack and even kill us (The thief comes to steal, kill and destroy – John 10:10). But we can run to Jesus who offers us forgiveness of our sins and protection from Satan through his work on the cross (We were dead in sins but Jesus made us alive again by forgiving our trespasses, nailing them to the cross, and disarming and triumphing over Satan! (Col 2:12-15)

Devotion 2 of 2: Num 36

The OT was an era in which women did not receive an inheritance of land like their brothers. But because a man name Zelophehad didn’t have any sons, his 5 daughters received their father’s land as inheritance (Num 27).
In this chapter, the issue of their marriage comes up. If they marry outside their tribe, their land will be transferred to another tribe, so a ruling was made that they should marry within their own tribe (v.6).
This episode shows how the inheritance of land was highly valued in Israel. We also have an inheritance of revival for our nation in our Promised Land. Let’s value this highly and never allow it to slip from our hands!
