Devotion 1 of 1: Num 27

In v.14, Moses can’t enter the Promised Land (PL) because he rebelled against God’s command to hallow the Lord before the people. What Moses did was hit the rock twice to produce water instead of just speaking to it, like God had commanded (Num 20:2-13). As the LDC, we want to enter our PL, so what can we learn?
The rock symbolizes Christ (1 Cor 10:4). Jesus gave us living water for eternal life (John 4:13-14) through the cross. But taking up the cross and following Christ also means forgiving others and not complaining, as Jesus prayed, “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do!” I believe Moses hitting the rock twice, was symbolic of him denying that part of Jesus’ work on the cross. He hit the rock in anger as a complaint against Israel. Israel couldn’t enter the PL because of their complaining, and Moses suffered the same punishment.
