Devotion 1 of 1: Job 22
Instead of empathizing or having compassion for Job, Eliphaz continues the 3 friends’ attack on Job’s character and integrity (v.1-18). The main focus of his accusations seems to be that Job was wealthy and didn’t care for the poor (v.5-9). Since God called Job “blameless” in 1:8, Eliphaz’ accusation was not true, which means his motive for this accusation may have been jealousy of Job's wealth! Let’s ask God to purify our hearts so that we deal with people in love, not jealousy or some other fleshly motive.
MATT 22 answers:
1) Psalm 110:1
2) Jesus was trying to make the Pharisees realize that the Christ would be both God and man. As God, he would be David’s Lord, but as man, he would be the son, or descendant, of David.
