Devotion 1 of 2: Job 19
Despite his horrible suffering and his many complaints, Job still holds on to his faith that after death he would see God (v.26)! This is what Satan was trying to destroy, but he failed! Then Job warns his friends in v.28-29 that because they were persecuting, or judging him, they should be fearful of a sword coming after them! As Matt 7:1 says, if we judge others, we will be judged in turn! Let’s not be critical of others because if we do, the sword will come after us, too!

Devotion 2 of 2: Matt 19
(2/2)
1) Jesus meant that he was God, but did the young man understand that when he called Jesus good?
2) He lacked the commandments that Jesus left out—the 1st four commandments. The 10 commandments are divided into the 1st four, which deal with our relationship to God, and the last 6, which deal with our relationship to man. So the man was a moral man and had no problems with relationship to others, but the thing he lacked was a proper relationship with God!
3) The young man’s problem was that his wealth was his god. So to solve that problem, he needed to make God more important than his wealth. That’s why Jesus told him to sell his possessions, give the money to the poor, and follow after him because he was God!
