Devotion 1 of 2: Hos 10

A big part of Israel’s problem was that she had corrupt kings who spoke lies and loved themselves more than the people. This is what v.3b-4a say: “And as for a king, what would he do for us? They have spoken words, swearing falsely in making a covenant.” When the ruler is like that, the people become disloyal also. This is what happened in Russia. The leader is a dictator who has accumulated wealth by corruption. When he attacked Ukraine, everyone thought the mighty Russian army would quickly defeat Ukraine. But the Russian army proved to be weak and disloyal. Many soldiers don’t want to fight and have deserted the army. The reason for Russia’s failure in Ukraine is because of her bad leader. Let’s be leaders who are truthful and loyal to Jesus!

Devotion 2 of 2: John 10

1) Because they thought Jesus blasphemed by claiming to be one with the Father, making himself God (v.30, 33)!
2) Ps 82:6 says, “You are gods,” but the Jews don’t call that blasphemy. So saying Jesus blasphemes for saying he is God is a contradiction. Besides, Jesus’ works show he is the Son of God (v.37-38). There are 5 categories for “son of God”: Angels (Job 1:16), all humans (Gen 1:27), Jews (Ex 4:22), Christians (John 1:12), and Jesus (John 3:16). Jesus is special because he is called the “only begotten Son of God!”
