Devotion 1 of 2: Hos 2
1) In v.5, Gomer says her lovers gave her bread, water, wool, linen, oil and drink. This shows she was paid for her services, showing temple prostitutes didn’t need to rely on their husbands (if they were married) for livelihood.
2) In v.11 God says he would cause Gomer’s joy to cease, and v.7 says she would chase her lovers but not overtake them. I think this means that eventually temple prostitution would not be fun anymore for Gomer, meaning she might be rejected or abused by men. And she would look for customers but not find them might mean after getting tired of her, men would not want to pay for her anymore.

Devotion 2 of 2: John 2
Praise God for leading us to read Hosea 2 and John 2 on the same day! V.1-12 tells about Jesus turning water into wine at the wedding in Cana. The wine running out can mean joy and love will dwindle in marriage! But Jesus miraculously made the best wine from water and turned the wedding from disaster to a great blessing! Mary’s words are the secret: Whatever he says to you, do it (v.5)! When we do that in our marriage in the daily mundane things of life, they can be transformed into experiences of joy, love and blessing in our marriages!
