Devotion 3 of 3: Jude 1
1) They were the fallen angels (sons of God) who had intercourse with women in Noah’s day (Gen 6:2). Their children became Nephilim, hybrid creatures with great strength, who were probably very violent and corrupt (Gen 6:4, 11-12). These angels violated their proper domain (v.6) by marrying women because angels are not supposed to marry (Matt 22:30).
2) Their sin was homosexual behavior (Gen 19:5), which was a similar sin to what the fallen angels in v.6 had committed in that they left their proper domain of heterosexual intercourse and sought homosexual intercourse. God punished them by destroying their cities and people by fire from above (Gen 19:24). This is a picture of why God will allow the tribulation period on earth to punish mankind for homosexual behavior, violence, killing of babies by abortion, polluting and destroying the planet, denying God, rebelling against his Word, etc. Let us warn mankind of coming judgment in a wise and effective way!
